How to export Claude chats

You export Claude chats from Settings > Privacy > Export data on claude.ai. Pick a range (All, 30 days, 90 days, or Custom) and click Export. Claude emails a download link that expires in 24 hours. The export covers your whole account for that range. There is no per-chat export button, so to save one conversation, search the export or copy the replies you need.
This covers chats on claude.ai, not Claude Code. People usually want one of two things: a backup of everything, or a single conversation as a file. The built-in export handles the first and reaches the second only indirectly. The date range helps. A narrower range keeps the export short when only recent chats matter.

Open the export dialog
Click your name at the bottom left and open Settings > Privacy. Under Your data, click Export data. Export works on the web and in the desktop app, not in the iOS or Android apps.

Choose the date range
Next to Conversations from, choose All, 30 days, 90 days, or Custom. Custom shows From and To date pickers. The dialog also lists what the export includes: Conversations, Users, and Projects.

Send the export and download it from your email
Click Export. Claude sends a download link to your account email. The link expires in 24 hours, so download the file soon after it arrives.

Find one conversation inside the export
The export holds all chats from the date range in one download. Keep it as a backup, and search it for the chat you want. For a single chat, it is quicker to copy its replies from claude.ai into a note or document.

- Can I export just one Claude chat?
- No. Claude has no per-chat export. The only built-in export covers your account, and you narrow it by date range, not by chat.
- Which plans can export their data?
- Free, Pro, and Max accounts export from Settings. On Team and Enterprise, the owner has to turn on Allow members to export their own data first.
- Can I export from the Claude phone app?
- No. Claude says export is available on the web and in the desktop app only, so use a computer for this.
- Does the export delete my chats or load them into another account?
- No to both. Export only copies your data, and Claude says the file cannot be imported into another personal Claude account.
