Quick answer

ChatGPT can export your data, but only as one ZIP of your whole account, sent by email. To save a single conversation, GPT Master adds an Export button next to the message box and an export option when you right-click a chat in its sidebar. Pick Save as PDF, a web page (HTML), or Markdown. The file keeps headings, tables, code blocks, and a timestamp on every message, and drops the citation markers that clutter pasted text.

What this looks like in practice

Example: handing a client the thread behind a recommendation

A consultant spent an afternoon in ChatGPT comparing three vendors, with tables, pasted pricing, and a final shortlist. The client asked to see the reasoning. Copying forty replies into a document would have broken the tables, and a share link would have exposed the whole thread on the web. With GPT Master, the consultant clicked Export, chose Save as PDF, and sent one file with every table, code block, and timestamp in place.

Frequently asked

Questions people have before they install

These questions cover fit, workflow, and what to expect before installing GPT Master, so people can understand the feature in practical terms before clicking through to the Chrome Web Store.

Is ChatGPT export free?

Yes. Exporting a single conversation to PDF, HTML, or Markdown is free on every GPT Master plan.

What ends up in the file?

The chat title, every user and ChatGPT message with its date and time, and the formatting: headings, lists, tables, code blocks, and links. Canvas documents are included. Images become an [image] placeholder and attachments are listed by name. The last line credits GPT Master.

Does it include messages I edited or regenerated?

It exports the version of the conversation you currently see. If you edited a message or regenerated a reply, the branch you left behind is not included.

Why does PDF open a print dialog?

PDF export uses Chrome's own print engine, which already has fonts for every language, so Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and accented text all render correctly. Set the destination to Save as PDF and click Save.
