ChatGPT conversation management for heavy users

Using ChatGPT more than fifty times a week creates a management problem. Threads from this morning compete with threads from last month for sidebar space. Finding any specific conversation requires either a lucky search or a lot of scrolling. This guide is for the users who have already hit that wall.

   Build a two-tier folder system that scales

   Set top-level folders for broad domains (Work, Research, Personal, Templates) and add subfolders for specifics (Work / Client A, Work / Internal tools). This structure scales to hundreds of conversations without becoming unwieldy. GPT Master supports unlimited nesting on Pro.

   Assign a color convention and stick to it

   Pick a consistent color system: one color per client, or one color per status (active, archived, on-hold). Write it down somewhere so you remember it in six months. Color makes the sidebar scannable without reading every folder name.

   When a project is done, move its folder to an "Archive" parent folder or rename it with a prefix like "[done]". This keeps the active folder tree small while preserving everything. Heavy users typically keep fewer than twenty active folders visible at any time.
